Known for its enormous and increasing population, China is most affected by the criminal act of human trafficking. According to the World Fact Book, 10,000-20,000 victims are trafficked in China each year. While some reasons are unclear, most trafficking occurs to with the intent of gaining a cheap laborer. Chinese men and women are both traded in China and can be sent to countries such as Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Mongolia, Burma, North Korea, Russia and Vietnam. Once traded, the victims are forced to work with the impending threat of sexual abuse. Because of China's growing population, the country yields the potential for high levels of activity of human trafficking.
